About Ross

Ross Corbett provides consulting services in tourism development throughout New Zealand, Australia and the Asia Pacific regions. He brings over 20 years international experience, insight and award-winning projects to developing and developed destinations.

He is a seasoned professional in planning for and managing sustainable tourism destinations. His background is in managing outstanding natural attractions for recreation, conservation and tourism. He believes he is privileged to have worked in some amazing destinations – throughout New Zealand, Australia and the Asia Pacific regions.

After starting out in New Zealand’s national park service in the 1980s, Ross ventured overseas working in countryside management throughout the west coast of Scotland. His home base for three years was Loch Lomond National Park. Returning to New Zealand in the late 1980s, Ross broadened his career with strategic planning, market research, project design and systems management with the Department of Conservation.

In the mid 1990s Ross undertook his first assignment in the Pacific working on an ecotourism project in Vanuatu for the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme. An assignment training tour guides in Samoa followed soon after in 1996. In 1997 he joined Tourism Resource Consultants (TRC) in Wellington, New Zealand and since then has worked on a wide variety of international consulting assignments. By 2005, Ross became a co-owner and director of TRC and in 2011, led the merger of TRC with Australian firm Planning for People, to form TRC Tourism. Having helped grow TRC and establish TRC Tourism as a truly Australasian firm, he moved on to freelance work in July 2015.
